Planning for a retirement complex with 42 flats on Herne Road APPROVED
A new retirement complex of 42 apartments for people over the age of 60 on Herne Road has been approved by North Northamptonshire Council (NNC), despite Oundle Town Council and others objecting to the plans.
Developer McCarthy Stone has been granted planning permission by North Northamptonshire Council for the erection of 42 apartments and 1 bungalow with associated access, car parking, landscaping, ancillary facilities, and associated works on land associated with the residential curtilage of no.19 Herne Road, and land to the rear of nos.19, 21 and 23 Herne Road.

Speaking in objection, Oundle Town Council Mayor Ian Clark told NNC's Planning Committee Oundle's streets had been "pummelled" by heavy traffic for another site for older people.
Oundle Town Council objected to the site stating "Oundle already has a number of existing different types of residential accommodation for the elderly and planning permission exists for a 62 units extra care facility off St Christopher's Drive. The existing GP practice is overstretched, there is a lack of infrastructure and concerns with increase to noise and traffic congestion in the area."
